Our History
My passion for gamefowl has been a significant part of my life since the early 80s when a man named Brent Halmach gifted me my first dozen eggs. This love for gamefowl has only intensified with my deepening involvement in the gamefowl culture. In the late 90s, I had the pleasure of meeting Archie Kehr, famously known as the Kelso Man from
My passion for gamefowl has been a significant part of my life since the early 80s when a man named Brent Halmach gifted me my first dozen eggs. This love for gamefowl has only intensified with my deepening involvement in the gamefowl culture. In the late 90s, I had the pleasure of meeting Archie Kehr, famously known as the Kelso Man from Steelville, MO. Archie became a dear friend until his passing, and we often exchanged thoughts on the latest gamefowl news and shared our experiences at various gamefowl events and exhibitions, enriching our understanding of gamefowl history.
The Start
From the early days of eagerly waiting at the mailbox for my Gamecock, Feathered Warrior, and Grit n Steal, I developed a passion for everything related to gamefowl culture. Several years ago, I began writing newsletters on Substack for MOGBA, and I later contributed to the UGBA while serving as their Administrative Assistant. Although I
From the early days of eagerly waiting at the mailbox for my Gamecock, Feathered Warrior, and Grit n Steal, I developed a passion for everything related to gamefowl culture. Several years ago, I began writing newsletters on Substack for MOGBA, and I later contributed to the UGBA while serving as their Administrative Assistant. Although I didn't excel in that role, I transformed their newsletter into a magazine that covered various gamefowl events and gamefowl news. It grew so quickly that the costs of publication became prohibitive. While the UGBA aimed to provide their members with this magazine, the expenses made it unfeasible. At that point, I decided to rename it, and thus, Gamefowl Times was born, capturing the essence of gamefowl history and celebrating the vibrant gamefowl exhibition scene.
